it would be nice to see punishment for leechers and leavers in AB. Can't wait to see this in action.

All these people crying about being penalized for leaving RA. Seriously, if you’re that serious about PvP, go do TA, GvG or HA. RA is meant for some quick not-so-serious PvP action. Personally, I prefer HA, but if I want to jump on for a “quickie,” I’ll get into RA for a few minutes. If I rack up some glad points in the process, it’s a bonus. I won’t even get into the definition of “random.” It’s been done.

Finally, punishment for people who ragequit before the match even starts. This might actually make me look at RA as a viable arena again.

#2 is kinda dirty
I do like the lose 1k faction idea though. Unfortunately there are some random cases where I've left. Just the other day I started a match and apologized to team cause my lag was so bad I couldn't do anything so I left. Despite this, I would gladly lose 1k faction once in a while due to legit reasons if it helps to get rid of leechers and other dorks that are out there.

First of all....**woot**
I doubt the 'lose 1k faction' idea is really gona be IT though unless our faction is allowed to go into minus figures....
Otherwise you're obviously just gona get a bunch a leechers/leavers with 0 faction receiving no penalty.
Then of course there are the people who dont care about faction at all, and are only in it for the Glad points...where is their penalty?
Its got to be something which will be of little consequence to someone leaving for a genuine reason..but all we can do is speculate and look forward to the change
Hopefully this will have some sort of Aspenwood/AB spin also.

Lose 100 faction each time you leave? 1000 faction is a bit much, some people will be like
"DUUUUH I LOSE FACTION WHEN I LEAVE EARLY I DON'T THINK IT HAS ANYTHING TO DO WITH LEAVING EARLY FOR NO REASON"
And then A-net email inbox spam?

Well if that 1k loss is the plan (which i really doubt), and it leads to Anet 'inbox spam'...."hoe noes I lose faction when I leave!!.." then it sounds like it would be doing exactly what it is intended to do, and discourage leavers. no?
Plus that still does nothing about the previous issue i mentioned about the people to whom Balth faction is no consequence. ~
Just hope whatever they implement is implemented well eh?

Roll the dice. Random Arena...Its random, deal with it.
Anet making you play when you don't want to play? Um...then don't play? If you're going to punk out on a team, don't join RA. Period. Take your ultra-sensative baby bottom to TA to grind your Glad points.

I think the leaver issue is much more complex than many people believe it is. Many people are looking at it subjectively, as it has wronged them more than anyone else. As someone already stated, there are more than one reason players leave RA matches.
I agree that the leavers who do so at the beginning of the match are a problem, but to FORCE people to stay in the match during an unwinnable situation is not making the game anymore fun than people leaving. Do you think its fair to force a team to stay until a time limit is reached in a situation where they have no shot of winning(like 4 healing monks)? And why need a time limit?? Most times, running isn't for griefing, its for kiting. Rangers have to kite warriors, and warriors always complain people run from them, like DUH. I think if a time limit is introduced, when it reaches 0, no one should win, if anything.
I think Anet needs to think of all these possibilities before they even try to change RA.

so if the afore mentioned 'deserter' penalty comes into play, if people get onto a team they aren't happy with, they equip a vamp weapon and go off for a drink, or run into the opposition and die
PROBLEM FIXED!

They're not talking about kiting C2K. They're talking about the last player on the losing side holding out and drawing out the match much longer than it should be. Sometimes people do it in hopes that the other team will get bored and just quit. I did an RA match a while back where the last man standing on the opposing team was a monk. He just kept healing and healing himself. Luckily, my team was fairly well prepared, otherwise it could've dragged out much longer than it should have.

I know for aspenwood currently,
Luxon ragequitting is more common than leeching
had 3 games last week in the same day where I was the last person playing on my team due to people quitting
I've won plenty of games despite people quitting but its rougher

There is nothing wrong with that, and I'm glad your team was good enough to beat a healer. Sometimes people run to gain distance, to recharge their skills, to seperate teammates, etc. Running is actually a viable strategy in winning a 1v4 battle, because you can't take on all 4 people at once.
I like to use the ranger vs. warrior example, because its the one I see the most in RA. Rangers with cripple and such just lock warriors down, and warriors can sometimes out tank the damage the ranger gives. If a time limit is introduced, it would be unfair to give a win to the team with the least amount of people, because the team with the most people might not deserve it. On the contrary, the 1 person is in an unwinnable situation and kites to stay out of the warriors attacks. Thats not grief, thats a no-win situation. And regarding a time limit, no one should win that.
The only time I would ever think of running = griefing is if the person in question equips all speed boosts and brings nothing else.

In my case, the monk was pure healer. With his other teammates down, he had no offensive capabilities. I assume his hard rez was already used as well because he never tried to rez his fallen teammates. So, to me, it looked like he had no chance of winning anyway.
I get what you're saying though. I think we'll just have to agree to disagree.

I bolded all the reasons you should STFUAD! You and people who think like you are what made RA's so horrible for so long, now with this update stupid 1v4 runners and 55monks will lose without a 45 minute wait.

I'm guessing you like to play Wammo and your favorite elites are Gladiator's Defense, Defy Pain, and Healing Hands.
